Bernardo Silva back on the agenda as Barcelona close in on Anthony Gordon
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - MAY 24: Manchester City's Bernardo Silva gives a thumbs up to the fans after the Premier League match between Manchester City and Aston Villa at Etihad Stadium on May 24, 2026 in Manchester, England. (Photo by Lee Parker - CameraSport via Getty Images) | CameraSport via Getty Images Bernardo Silva is reportedly back on the agenda at Barcelona as the club’s transfer plans start to heat up ahead of next season. An update from RAC1 claims that “Barça sees Bernardo Silva as a good market opportunity because he would arrive on a free transfer.” Barcelona and Deco now need to convince Hansi Flick as the German coach “thinks he already has enough midfielders.” As for Bernardo, he’d love to play for Barcelona following his departure from Manchester City. The update comes at a time when a move for Anthony Gordon appears to be proceeding at some pace. The Telegraph are now reporting the Newcastle winger “could fly out for a medical later this week should talks continue to advance.” Barcelona have made a first offer to Newcastle for their England international and have already agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old.

Arteta ready to take final step on Arsenal’s 20-year journey to redemption
Two decades of disappointment followed Parisian nightmare of Lehmann, Eto’o and all that, but now a first Champions League title is in sight They left London in their thousands, full of hope and devotion, heading for Paris in the springtime, yet romantic anticipation lasted all of 18 minutes, which was when Arsenal’s goalkeeper, Jens Lehmann, was sent off in the 2006 Champions League final against Barcelona at the Stade de France. Twenty years on, as Arsenal fans again travel in anticipation, this time to Budapest, for the club’s second Champions League final, you could argue that Arsenal hearts have been a little broken ever since. ‘The perfect moment’ – Tearful Alexia Putellas opens up on decision to leave Barcelona
BARCELONA, SPAIN - MAY 27: Alexia Putellas of FC Barcelona lifts the UEFA Womens Champions League Trophy during the press conference at Spotify Camp Nou on May 27, 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas has announced she will leave Barcelona after 14 years. (Photo by Eric Alonso/Getty Images) | Getty Images Alexia Putellas said her goodbyes to Barcelona on Wednesday in a special event organised by the club to pay tribute to a true club legend. The 32-year-old spoke about her decision to say goodbye to the club and made it clear how difficult it will be for her to walk away from the Catalan giants. Yet Alexia also admitted that it’s the perfect time to go after a season where the club have won an historic quadruple. “Yesterday was a very emotional day, actually, I’d say the whole season has been, when I considered whether it would be my last,” he sad. “Yesterday I felt a huge emptiness and today I’m filled with love. There’s no single moment when you feel it’s time to leave. There are many shades of gray; it’s the most important decision of my life. What I felt was that continuing could obscure this path. When I lifted the fourth Champions League trophy, I saw that it was the perfect moment to say goodbye. “I made a promise that today I would lay myself bare. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I felt I could contribute, but you can’t normalize all of this. I told my grandmother that it’s not normal to live with this level of pressure for 14 years, that we are privileged. “If I had to imagine a perfect ending, this would be it. I’ve given it my all. After the fourth Champions League title … I felt it was the perfect moment. “I couldn’t see myself doing anything other than giving 100%. The team will continue. I know them and I know they will keep winning,” she said, explaining the reasons for the change in her career path. Alexia has yet to announce her next move but readily admitted that no matter where she goes, she will always be a culer: “My story will always be with Barça. It has been a privilege.”

Barcelona facing big decision on Toni Fernandez’s future amid Sevilla interest
BARCELONA, SPAIN - OCTOBER 18: Toni Fernandez of FC Barcelona reacts during the LaLiga EA Sports match between FC Barcelona and Girona FC at Spotify Camp Nou on October 18, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. (Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images) | Getty Images Barcelona appear to be facing a big decision on Toni Fernandez’s future this summer amid interest from Sevilla. Fernandez is yet another exciting star to emerge from La Masia but it seems the time has come to decide where his future lies. The talented winger will turn 18 in July and has spent the last two seasons with Barca Atletic. According to Mundo Deportivo, the club now feel that the Second Division “is no longer enough for him” and must decide on next steps. Barca could obviously decide to promote Fernandez to Hansi Flick’s first team but an exit is not being ruled, with Sevilla believed to be tracking his progress. Sevilla are currently going through big changes and are reportedly on the verge of a takeover by an investment group led by Sergio Ramos, They are unlikely to be the only club interested if Barca do decide Fernandez needs a change of scenery. There’s already been speculation that Barca could send the youngster out to Real Oviedo on loan in a bid to gain more experience. What do you think would be best for Toni Fernandez next season? Would you like to see him given a first-team chance or is a loan spell away from the club a more suitable option? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Anthony Gordon prioritising Barcelona over Bayern and Liverpool after Deco talks
NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND - MARCH 22: Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United (10) celebrates after scoring Newcastle's opening goal during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Sunderland at St James' Park on March 22, 2026 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. (Photo by Serena Taylor/Newcastle United via Getty Images) Anthony Gordon’s name is reportedly back on the agenda at Barcelona and is another reason why Deco took a trip to London in the last few days. An exclusive report from Mundo Deportivo states that Deco made the trip to discuss moves for Joao Pedro and Gordon and adds the Newcastle star is now prioritising a move to Camp Nou. Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also keen on the England international, but Gordon’s “greatest desire” is to play for Barcelona. Barcelona are said to be willing a offer five-year contract and see Gordon’s wage demands as affordable. The transfer fee might be a problem, however, as Newcastle value Gordon at around €85-90 million. Gordon would be brought in to strengthen Barca’s left flank but he can also play as a striker. MD say Barca are also still looking for a center-forward but if they do sign Gordon “the pressure to sign a goalscorer would be lessened.” Barcelona’s top striker targets are Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro but both deals currently seem difficult to do as neither Atletico nor Chelsea want to sell.

Keeping Joao Cancelo must be a priority for Deco and Barcelona this summer
BARCELONA, SPAIN - MAY 17: Joao Cancelo of FC Barcelona celebrates 3-1 during the LaLiga EA Sports match between FC Barcelona v Real Betis at the Camp Nou on May 17, 2026 in Barcelona Spain (Photo by David Ramirez/Soccrates/Getty Images) | Getty Images When Joao Cancelo came back to Barcelona earlier this year, the collective intake of breath from culers was palpable. Why would the club want to re-sign the right-back when Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo can both play there, while Hansi Flick also has Eric Garcia and Xavi Espart appeared to be the general school of thought. Despite all the doubters, Cancelo has certainly gone on to prove that he has again been worth his weight in gold. Forgetting Kounde’s injury problems just for a moment, he isn’t as dynamic as his contemporary has been, and certainly struggles to get back and defend at times. Perhaps his positional sense on occasion can be better than Cancelo’s; however, it’s the Portuguese who offers a little more in his all-round game. With Barca always reliant on full-backs that aren’t just able defensively, but who can get forward with ease and be a supplementary attacking presence when required, Cancelo absolutely fits the bill. Araujo has generally been used sparingly in the position, and almost always when up against Vini Jr. in El Clasico. Time will tell if the Uruguayan still has a squad place at the club after this summer, given his lack of minutes under Hansi Flick recently. Where Cancelo also excels is his ability to play with equal aplomb in the left-back position, as it gives the squad options when and if Alejandro Balde is injured or off form, as has happened in the recent past. At 31 years of age, the Portuguese is still as fit as a fiddle and gets up and down the pitch with ease. Though no spring chicken, it’s evident that he still has years left at the top level, and Barca would be ill-advised to allow him to leave, given the other options that they currently have at their disposal. Of course, if it’s a matter of financial prudence, that could put a slightly different spin on things, but as the club continues to pull away from the dark days under Josep Maria Bartomeu, there have to be more creative ways for the powers that be to make money from commercial deals, which would ultimately ensure that there’s no issue in keeping on some big earners. Cancelo has already made his feelings clear as to where he wants to spend the next few years of his career, so Deco and Joan Laporta need to ensure pen gets put to paper before the World Cup, where a high standard of performance from the player could alert other potential suitors.

(Photo by Bruno Penas/Quality Sport Images/Getty Images) | Getty Images Marc-Andre ter Stegen has sent out a farewell message to Girona as he prepares to head back to Barcelona after a loan spell with Michel’s side. The Germany stopper moved on loan in the winter and was hoping for regular football ahead of World Cup 2026. However, he suffered a brutal injury blow after just two appearances for his new club and subsequently had to undergo surgery which saw him miss the rest of the season. Ter Stegen has now said farewell to Girona and has spoken about his brief time at the club. “Girona, thank you very much for these months,” he posted on Instagram. “Although my stint on the pitch has been much shorter than we would have liked, with only two games after my arrival in January and having to sit out for the remainder of the season, I am very grateful for how you have welcomed me from day one. “It has been an honor to be part of this family, share the locker room with this group and feel the love of the club people and amazing fans. I heartily wish you all the best for the future.” Ter Stegen’s future now is unclear as there appears to be no place for him at Barcelona for next season. The stopper was happy to move to Girona to say close to his family but a return now looks unlikely after Michel’s men were relegated from La Liga.

‘Higher level than any other Spanish striker’ – Ansu Fati’s father makes big claim after Barcelona forward misses out on World Cup squad
PARIS, FRANCE - APRIL 10: Ansu Fati of AS Monaco in action during the Ligue 1 McDonald's match between Paris FC and AS Monaco FC at Stade Jean Bouin on April 10, 2026 in Paris, France. (Photo by Franco Arland/Getty Images) | Getty Images Ansu Fati’s father has revealed his disappointment at seeing his son miss out on a place in the Spain squad for World Cup 2026. The forward has spent the season on loan at Monaco and scored 12 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side. Bori Fati feels Fati did have a chance of being called up and it’s a shame he missed out. “This season he finished the league well and was in very good shape. He finished the French league with Monaco at a higher level than any other Spanish striker. But if the national team didn’t realize that, then it’s over, there’s nothing that can be done about it,” he told EremNews. “Ansu finished the season very well. Coach Luis de la Fuente did not call him up, but he trusts other players and that’s it, there is nothing else to do. We had hoped that Ansu would go to the national team, but he didn’t call him up today and that’s where it ends. “Ansu has not been in the national team for a long time either. If Ansu had played regularly for a long time, he would have been called up to the national team, that’s obvious to him. But he wasn’t playing. And that’s it. It’s a shame, but more opportunities will come.” Fati’s future is now uncertain. There’s been talk that Monaco will trigger the buy option in his loan contract but also speculation Sevilla are keen and that the player himself is still dreaming of another chance at Barca.

The question is, can he?” Atletico coach Diego Simeone spoke about Alvarez at the end of the season and said he feels like the striker has already decided what he wants to do. Barcelona remain keen and are said to have €100 million to spend on a striker this summer but that may not be enough to convince Atletico to part company with their attacker.

Just who is going to replace Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona?
VALENCIA, SPAIN - MAY 23: Robert Lewandowski of FC Barcelona celebrates after scoring their side's first goal during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Valencia CF and FC Barcelona at Estadi de Mestalla on May 23, 2026 in Valencia, Spain. (Photo by Omar Arnau/Quality Sport Images/Getty Images) | Getty Images With Robert Lewandowski having played his last game for Barcelona, talk will once again turn to which player will replace him as the focal point of the Catalan club’s attack next season. The rumor mill is already claiming that Barca have €100 million to spend. Do the Blaugranes stick with a centre-forward in the target man mould, or do they look for a more diminutive No.9, who can also link up play? Perhaps they go for a player who is a mixture of both. Whoever does garner the most interest certainly has some big shoes to fill, not least because Hansi Flick will want the club to challenge for all of the major honours once more. The German coach has already made his feelings cleaar, saying: “We need to look for a 9 who fits our philosophy, but the most important thing is that he scores goals.” So who will Barca go for? The Favorite? Julian Alvarez There’s never really been any secret to Joan Laporta wanting to bring Julian Alvarez to Camp Nou, but the stumbling block will be financial. Though the club has saved on Lewy’s salary, the Argentinian World Cup winner won’t come cheap, and with other areas of the squad also needing to be strengthened, can Barca really potentially blow their whole transfer budget on Alvarez? He would be a solid addition, of course. A player who already knows the league, and who is far better suited in terms of general play to Barca than Atletico Madrid. Not just a goalscorer but a goal creator, too, the Spanish press is convinced he is Barca’s top target this summer. The Dream – Harry Kane Europe’s most feared marksman on current form, coming off the back of a 61-goal season with Bayern Munich. Harry Kane has proven beyond any doubt at all that he has what it takes to succeed at the very highest level, and in order to even tempt him to move from Bavaria, Barca would need to come up with a sensational package that would be too difficult to turn down. Given the similar playing style to Lewandowski, Flick could just do a like-for-like swap, and the gameplay remains as it has for the past few years, with everyone knowing exactly the areas that Kane patrols in order to get the best out of him. Yet it’s another deal that will be incredibly difficult to do. Kane keeps on saying he wants to stay and Bayern are in no mood to sell. The Most Realistic? Joao Pedro With no European football at all for Chelsea next season, and the West Londoners once again in disarray, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Joao Pedro moved on, even if early indications are that the Blues board believe him to be one of their ‘untouchables.’ A hybrid of both of the aforementioned strikers, his signing would certainly be an interesting one. This is a rumor that’s hotting up as well, with the latest updates claiming Deco has headed out to London again to talk about a potential transfer. Whether Chelsea would want to sell their player of the season is another question entirely, but there’s certainly merit in testing the water for the Brazilian’s services. Which striker would you prefer to see Barcelona sign to replace Lewandowski? Tell us in the comments below!

Kang’s spending fuels resentment but Barcelona are far from a model club
Billionaire investor uses her wealth to pursue glory but the Women’s Champions League winners cannot take the moral high ground It has been a bad week for Michele Kang, the billionaire women’s football investor. On Wednesday the Uefa director of women’s football, Nadine Kessler, was firm on the enforcement of rules prohibiting clubs with the same owner from playing each other in European competitions, dealing a blow to Kang, who has ambitions of taking London City Lionesses into Europe’s premier competition, but also owns the tournament’s most decorated side, OL Lyonnes. Then, across the weekend, Kang teams suffered two continental final defeats, with Lyonnes losing 4-0 to Barcelona in the Champions League final before her US outfit, Washington Spirit, fell short in the Concacaf W Champions Cup with a 5-3 reverse to the Mexican side Club América. Barcelona plan to spend €100m on a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski
(Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images) | Getty Images Barcelona’s hunt for a new striker to replace Robert Lewandowski is gaining ground following the end of the season in Spain. A new update from AS states that Barca see signing a new No. 9 as the “absolutely priority” for the summer transfer window and are hopeful they can spend big. Lewandowski’s exit has freed up space on the wage bill and Barca are hoping to be able to return to the 1:1 rule in time for the summer window. The report adds that Barca now plan to “spend slightly more than 100 million euros on reinforcements” and “have decided that the bulk of the investment will be for the number 9 position.” Barca had been going for a defender as well but have cooled interest in Alessandro Bastoni and may not now bolster their backline due to the emergence of Gerard Martin and Andreas Christensen’s return to fitness. Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro are currently the top two targets, although current speculation claims that Atletico want €150 million for the Argentina star.

Joan Garcia has been worth every single penny for Barcelona and deserves his World Cup call-up
Let’s not beat about the bush. Joan Garcia is right up there with Barcelona’s players of the season. Moving from arch-rivals Espanyol isn’t for the faint of heart, and the cacophony of boos and abuse that he received on his return to the RCDE Stadium showed the depth of feeling towards him amongst the Periquitos. At only 25 years of age, he is already the consummate Barca custodian. Commanding in his box, brave and decisive when he needs to be – even if it means taking out his own players in the process – astonishingly good with his feet, and brilliant in one-on-one situations. Think about it… How often during the 2025/26 campaign did you say to yourself when the opposition was bearing down on his goal, ‘I’m not worried, Joan will save it,‘ or something to that effect? 𝐉𝐨𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚 🔒 pic.twitter.com/6hyGtMAKbU — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona_cat) January 25, 2026 If the supporters think that, and I believe that most genuinely do, then think how confident his back four are in him. That’s a priceless commodity to have as a goalkeeper. Marc-Andre ter Stegen lost that edge for whatever reason, and whilst he will almost certainly have been bruised by his treatment at the club, he can’t have any complaints as to the reasoning. Given just how well Joan Garcia has done throughout his debut campaign with the Blaugranes, it’s astonishing that he isn’t the Spanish No.1, too. An incredible 147 saves made with a 72.9% success rate is truly elite level, not to mention the 72 times that he acted as a sweeper keeper with a perfect 100% success rate, or the winning back of possession on 110 separate occasions. Then there are the punches, clearances and headed clearances to factor in, as well as the astonishing 88.04% pass completion thanks to 1,126 of 1,279 total passes finding their target. For passes made in his own half, Garcia’s numbers go up to an almost perfect 95.9%, whilst only a handful of players have made more than his 1,533 possessional passes during the 25/26 campaign. At this point in time there’s arguably little weakness to his game, and to come in and hit the ground running in the way that he has shows great confidence in his own ability. The Zamora Trophy was well deserved. Having the mental strength to walk into a club as big as Barcelona and essentially puff out his chest and not be cowed by the responsibility of wearing the shirt, or the demands of his position more generally, takes bravery and guts. What a bargain!

He’s old enough to know what he’s going to do, and I imagine he’s already made his decision.” There has been talk that Alvarez would like to move to Barcelona but there are still plenty of doubts over whether the Catalans can actually afford a deal and if Atletico will sell to La Liga rivals.

Relegation the inevitable outcome of West Ham’s relentless executive failure | Barney Ronay
Once-proud club has forgotten what it was trying to be after years of mismanagement in a shopping centre annexe If you’re going to die, die with your boots on. Belatedly and pointlessly on. But on all the same. It felt deeply fitting that West Ham should show some fight on the final day of the Premier League season, but that relegation should still be confirmed by events elsewhere, any pleasure at a 3-0 defeat of Leeds rendered irrelevant by Tottenham’s win at home against Everton, as West Ham’s season flopped like an ailing dog in the mid-summer heat. There was at least some joy at the London Stadium, a reminder that joy is both the only thing that actually matters here, and also the precise polar opposite of the football-club-shaped blob that West Ham’s ownership has created. When Jarrod Bowen scored West Ham’s second goal on 78 minutes, charging past a Leeds defence already ranged about the place on sun loungers flicking through the latest Sally Rooney, there was a brief glimpse of some other West Ham, some other reality, a lost place of greater care and competence, other hands on the wheel. Where does Robert Lewandowski rank on the list of Barcelona’s greatest strikers?
Photo by Omar Arnau/Quality Sport Images/Getty Images Robert Lewandowski’s Barcelona career officially ended on Saturday’s La Liga finale against Valencia, and the Polish superstar scored one last time to finish his tenure with 120 goals as the leader of Barça’s frontline. Lewandowski only needed four years to become a legend of the club, winning three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey and helping lead Barça back to the top of Europe. The Pole came to the club at a time when it wasn’t easy to be a Blaugrana and took the challenge head on, and he leaves as an icon who gave the Catalan capital a taste of his brilliance as one of the very best strikers of the 21st century — and the history of the sport. It will be very hard to find a capable replacement in the upcoming summer transfer window, and Lewy’s name will forever be associated with the great number nines in Barça history such as Gary Lineker, Romário, Ronaldo, Patrick Kluivert, Samuel Eto’o, Luis Suárez and others. So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is: Where does Robert Lewandowski rank on the list of Barcelona’s greatest strikers? Now it’s over to you! (Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images) | DeFodi Images via Getty Images Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has aimed a dig at Barcelona following fresh talk about interest in striker Harry Kane ahead of the transfer window. The England international is still yet to extend his contract with the Bavarian giants, leading to more rumors recently that Barcelona could go for the 32-year-old. Hoeness addressed the speculation on Saturday after seeing Kane score a hat-trick in the final of the DFB-Pokal. “Harry Kane is the best transfer we’ve ever made,” he told German broadcaster Das Erste. “FC Bayern is a buying club not a selling club, and Barcelona have no money anyway.” The Bayern striker was also asked about his future after the match but still didn’t want to talk about a new contract. “It’s not the time to talk about that now, but there’s no panic,’ he said. ”We wanted to hold conversations until the end of the season and we’ve got a World Cup still to play. But everyone knows how much I enjoy it here. That situation is calm.“ Kane’s goals helped Bayern secure a league and cup double this season and mean he’s finishes the season with 61 goals in 51 games for the Bavarians.

(Photo by JOSE JORDAN / AFP via Getty Images) | AFP via Getty Images Gerard Martin has reflected on his excellent season with Barcelona which has seen him shift over to center-back and impress in the heart of the backline. The 24-year-old has come in for plenty of criticism in the past but has shone this season after moving into a central role. Martin says he’s happy with how he’s played for Hansi Flick’s side. “I think I’ve had a very good season. I started as a full-back, then I moved to center-back, a position I hadn’t played before, but I’ve felt very comfortable there. I think I’ve competed at the level that Barcelona demands,” he said after Barcelona’s final game of the season against Valencia. “At a collective level, the same, we came from winning three titles, which is not easy at all, and this year we have had some bad knockout rounds, but in the League we have been very good and we also won the Super Cup.” Martin also spoke about the blow to the head he took to his head against Valencia. The defender needed stitches but was able to continue. “The kick hurt at first. I felt pain, but later I noticed blood. They treated me, put stitches in, and then I was able to go back and play,“ he added. Martin is now hoping for a World Cup call up with Spain. Luis de la Fuente will announce his squad on Monday.

Valencia vs Barcelona, La Liga: Final Score 3-1, Robert Lewandowski scores farewell goal as Barça lose season finale
Photo by JOSE JORDAN / AFP via Getty Images Barcelona’s season has officially come to an end as the Catalans suffered a 3-1 defeat to Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday night’s La Liga finale. The back-to-back champions had nothing to play for but still took the lead thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s last goal for the club, but Valencia completed a furious comeback at home to finally end a run of humiliating losses against the Blaugrana. Reactions & Observations Valencia were determined to avoid another humiliating loss to Barça and came out with plenty of energy and intensity, pressing high up the pitch to force mistakes and create chances. The home team had several good moments early on, and missed a few strong opportunities to take the lead. Barça didn’t have much to play for and it showed as their performance was disjointed and lacking true invention up front. Ferran Torres is always motivated against his former club and was Barça’s most active player on the pitch, but the best chance of the half fell to Robert Lewandowski who headed a corner-kick against the post just before halftime. The game was goalless at the break, and Barça were lucky to not be losing to a Valencia side that outplayed and outworked them in the first half. Valencia continued to apply pressure to begin the final period but were punished by Barça’s departing legend, as Lewandowski deflected a shot from Ferran into the net to score the 120th and final goal of his amazing Blaugrana career and put the Catalans ahead. But Valencia answered quickly thanks to an error by young Xavi Espart, who came on at halftime but gave the ball away to Javi Guerra who fired it home and equalized for the hosts shortly after the hour mark. Then Luis Rioja gave them the lead five minutes later, and Valencia completed the comeback to send the crowd into a frenzy. Barça tried to pull off a late equalizer and Andreas Christensen had two huge chances denied by Stole Dimitrievski saves, and Guido Rodríguez scored from the edge of the box shortly before the final whistle came to end Barça’s season on a losing note. The result and the game mean nothing, and drawing conclusions from a dead rubber on Matchday 38 less than three weeks from the World Cup is silly. Barça’s season is still great despite the loss on the finale. Well done, boys!

‘We don’t want to take any risks’ – Hansi Flick explains why he left Raphinha out of Barcelona’s last game of the season against Valencia
(Photo by Josep LAGO / AFP via Getty Images) | AFP via Getty Images Hansi Flick explained why he has left Raphinha out of his squad for Barcelona’s last game of the season on Saturday night against Valencia at Mestalla. The Brazilian is back from injury but has been given the night off as he was not feeling 100 per cent, according to the Barca boss. “Raphinha was feeling a bit off yesterday, so we’ve decided to have him stay at home. We don’t want to take any risks,” he said before kick-off. Flick has gone with Ferran Torres, Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski in attack and is hoping his team can sign off with a win. “For me, it’s always important when we train, when we play, so we have to stay focused. We have 31 wins, but 32 is a better number,” he added. Barcelona have obviously already sealed the title but will want to finish on a high before the majority of the players switch their focus to a busy summer of World Cup action.

Barcelona Femení complete historic second Quadruple with 4-0 win over Lyon in Women’s Champions League Final
Photo by Odd ANDERSEN / AFP via Getty Images Barcelona continue to rewrite women’s football history as the Blaugrana have claimed a second Quadruple in three years thanks to a 4-0 win against OL Lyonnes in Saturday’s Women’s Champions League Final in Oslo, Norway. After a very even first half the Catalans established their superiority in the final period, and Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo shined with two goals each to give the Catalans a fourth Champions League title in six years as they remain the most dominant side in the sport. EL PÒQUER JA ÉS AQUÍ!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/vo6uqFfogu — FC Barcelona Femení (@FCBfemeni) May 23, 2026 The opening 45 minutes were very even with both teams having strong moments and trading big chances against each other. Lyon had the lead early on but Lindsey Heaps’ goal was disallowed for offside, and Selma Bacha’s free-kick required a sensational save from Cata Coll later in the half. Barça also had two massive chances of their own but Ewa Pajor was uncharacteristically wasteful by her very high standards, and neither team could find the net in the opening period despite some really good football from both sides. If the story of Barça’s first half was Ewa Pajor’s wastefulness, the story of the second was her scoring brilliance: the Pole fired a beautiful low shot into the bottom corner after an assist by Patri Guijarro 10 minutes into the period, then tapped home an assist by Salma Paralluelo with 20 minutes to go to finish off a perfect counter-attack and give Barça a monster two-goal lead to put the Blaugrana in a great position to win the title. Lyon desperately tried to find their way back in the contest and Cata Coll made a monster save one-on-one with Tabitha Chawinga, but that turned out to be their last chance and there was time for a spectacular ending for Barça: Paralluelo fired a sensational strike from outside the box into the top corner to make it 3-0 and seal the win and the title, and scored another on the counter to turn the win into an absolute dream. The final whistle came to end a perfect evening for Barça, who were absolutely fantastic in the second half and deservedly beat their biggest European nemesis. Ewa Pajor finally has a Champions League title, and Alexia Putellas may very well have played her last game for Barça and ends her career in glorious fashion. Well done, ladies!

(Photo by Juanma - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images) | UEFA via Getty Images FC Barcelona Femení and OL Lyonnes face off in Oslo tonight for the UEFA Women’s Champions League title, a blockbuster final defined by two of the best teams in Europe – and a managerial swap. Former Barça boss Jonatan Giráldez is now leading the French champions, while his former assistant, Pere Romeu, looks to secure a domestic treble for the Catalan giants in his first season in charge. “I see a team that is more mature than last season,” Romeu said ahead of the match, adding that his squad possesses a greater ability to alter tactics mid-game compared to the side that fell to Arsenal in last year’s final. That was then, this is now. Now the student faces off against his former master, in a game that sees the two titans of women’s football square off. It’s not just the two coaches that share history. The two clubs have met three times in the Champions League final before. Lyon were dominant in 2019 (winning 4-1) and 2022 (winning 3-1). But Barça roared back with a 2-0 victory in Bilbao two years ago. In the buildup, Alexia Putellas brushed off the idea that history will dictate the present. “We can’t compare seasons and we can’t compare finals,” the two-time Ballon d’Or winner insisted. Stylistically, this is a clash of polar opposites. Barcelona want to suffocate teams with possession and relentless passing, while Lyon lean into aggressive, high-pressing transitions. The way to beat the Catalans, analysts say, is to pack the midfield. Not that many teams have accomplished it this season. In fact, Barcelona have only lost one match – against Real Sociedad. But they have two draws in Europe, one each against Chelsea and Bayern Munich. In those matches, opponents found joy by deploying five-man blocks to deny central space, forcing Barça wide. In fact, Bayern managed to make the blaugrana attempt 28 open-play crosses in their semifinal first leg, which was their highest mark all season. Another question mark for Barcelona is the availability of Aitana Bonmatí. The midfielder has been building up strength after a five-month layoff with a broken leg, but she hasn’t played a full 90 minutes since November. Romeu mentioned she is improving daily, but she’s likely to be on the bench. Immense pressure falls on Patri Guijarro to control the tempo in her absence. On the bright side, Caroline Graham Hansen and Irene Paredes both trained normally in Oslo after recent fitness scares. Pushing full-backs high can leave Barcelona exposed on the counter, a vulnerability Lyon’s flying midfielder Melchie Dumornay is perfectly equipped to punish. But if executed properly, the high press can leave Lyon without oxygen. Barcelona’s beautiful fluid football can leave the other side dizzy. Players making quick passes and moving in and out of spaces, alternating positions… it can be a joy to watch. Lyon will certainly have their hands full. With that combination of pressing, passing, movement, and also, set piece efficiency, Barça just secured another domestic treble by brushing aside Atlético de Madrid 3-1 in the Copa de la Reina. Lyon are chasing their own domestic treble next week. They will be looking to re-establish their legacy as the queens of Europe. That reputation used to put fear into other teams. That may no longer be the case. Barcelona goalkeeper Cata Coll said that Lyon’s fear factor was removed when they beat the eight-time champions two years ago. But Lyon remain fiercely hungry. Midfielder Lily Yohannes told UEFA that the group possesses an intense desire after a three-year European drought. As the squad prepared to leave their hotel, they were met with a legendary reminder. Emblazoned for the players to see before boarding the team bus was Johan Cruyff’s iconic phrase: “Go out and enjoy.”

Valencia vs Barcelona, La Liga: Team News, Match Preview

The final weekend of the league season has nine games kicking off at the same time on Saturday, and every single match has huge implications in what promises to be a wild two hours that will decide relegation and the final spots in European competition next season. Valencia still have a slim chance of getting into Europe but achieved their main goal of avoiding the drop last week with an absolutely insane 4-3 victory against Real Sociedad when Los Che came back from 3-2 down with 10 men and scored a 94th minute winner at Anoeta to seal survival in dramatic fashion. They essentially have nothing to play for against a Barça side that are also just happy to be here, so both teams will play pressure-free football on Saturday in front of what is always a great crowd. But Valencia have another motivating factor for this one: end a humiliating run of results against Barça. Since Hansi Flick took over last summer, the Catalans have won all four games against Valencia by a combined score of 20-2, including 7-1, 5-0 and 6-0 wins in the last three. Valencia have had no answers for Flick’s attacking machine so far and will be hungry to finally stop the Catalans from destroying them, and pulling off an upset at home would be a nice way to wrap up a tough season for a proud club. Barça on the other hand truly have nothing to play for as they can’t get to 100 points and the goal of finishing the season with a historic perfect home record was achieved last week, so this one is all about breaking a sweat, avoiding injuries so close to the World Cup, and having some fun against a team they’ve dominated recently. Another great season for Hansi Flick’s Barça will come to an end. Enjoy it one last time. Let’s dance. POSSIBLE LINEUPS Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Joan; Eric, Cubarsí, Martín, Cancelo; De Jong, Pedri; Raphinha, Olmo, Gavi; Ferran Valencia (4-4-2): Dmitrievski; Correia, Tárrega, Núñez, Vázquez; Rioja, Ugrinic, Rodríguez, López; Guerra, Duro PREDICTION Barça are very comfortable against Valencia but will face an opponent hungry to finally end a run of very bad defeats, so this could be a lot of fun and full of goals despite the lack of stakes: 4-2 Barça.

Marc Casadó set for crunch meeting to decide Barcelona future
Photo By Ricardo Larreina/Europa Press via Getty Images A decisive meeting has been scheduled between Marc Casadó’s representatives and FC Barcelona, right after the final match of La Liga this season against Valencia at Mestalla. Staying at the Camp Nou reportedly remains the priority for the 22-year-old academy graduate, but he is now reportedly seriously considering a departure to secure consistent playing time. Casadó has fallen behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, and Marc Bernal in the pecking order, and he may be reluctant to accept another year as a fringe player. Despite this, the midfielder has stated multiple times over the season that he wishes to stay. “Whenever there is a possibility to wear this shirt and this badge, it will be my priority,” Casadó told Esport3 in January. And speaking to La Vanguardia, he echoed that sentiment: “my dream has always been to play for Barça and I have achieved it. Now I want it to continue to be this way. I will leave my life in every training session, in every match, and in every situation to continue as a blaugrana.” His public stance is clear, but the rumors persist. Casadó is under contract until 2028, meaning there is no immediate pressure from his side to rush into a decision. But offers from prominent European clubs have started to arrive. There have also been rumors of interest from Saudi Arabia. Barcelona reportedly are willing to sell if the midfielder forces a move, but they are not necessarily rushing to let him go, either. Unlike previous summers where financial troubles dictated sales, the Catalans are not under immediate pressure to unload his contract, which is relatively low. Estimates place Casadó’s market value between 20 and 30 million euros. His sale would represent “pure profit” as he was not bought with a transfer fee, being an academy product. Even though Barcelona may not be in a mad rush to sell players, they still need to generate revenue to fund Hansi Flick’s desired reinforcements – a striker, a full-back, and a central defender. Thus, Casadó’s performances this season compared to his breakout campaign may make him a prime candidate for a transfer. With Gavi fully recovered and Bernal seeing increased minutes under Flick, there may be few opportunities for Casadó if he stays.

Hansi Flick explains why Barcelona are being careful with Jules Kounde
Madrid, Spain - April 14: Jules Kounde of FC Barcelona controls the ball during the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Quarter-Final Second Leg match between Club Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona at Riyadh Air Metropolitano on April 14, 2026 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by Manu Reino/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images) | DeFodi Images via Getty Images Hansi Flick has revealed that Barcelona are having to be careful with Jules Kounde in the final weeks of the season. Kounde didn’t train on Friday ahead of Barca’s final game against Valencia and also sat out El Clasico recently. Flick was asked about the situation with the defender and offered an update. “He will play in the World Cup and now he has some problems, so we are careful with him,” he told reporters. “For everyone it is a great goal to play in the World Cup and he has not trained for that. We take care of it and handle it well; he does treatment and works on it. He’s evolving well.” Kounde may well get a breather for the trip to Valencia on Saturday as Flick has other options such as Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo and young Xavi Espart. The defender has already been named in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for World Cup 2026.
